Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, until recently the Director of the Judge Business School in Cambridge, talks in a short video about the essence of leadership, governance, and ethics.
Her views chime well with the thinking of my second book, The Churning, and you can read about them (and watch the short video) here.
Leadership is about getting people to come with you on difficult journeys. If it was easy you wouldn’t need leaders. It doesn’t matter whether the journey is difficult. What matters is whether the journey is worthwhile. And for that, each leader has to be fully in touch with who they are, able to articulate that in an inspiring way to their people, and put in place the systems, structures and controls needed to make the vision happen.
This is the essence of The Churning.
