What climate change looks like

Climate is ‘the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period’.

If the climate changed we would expect to see new types of weather at unexpected times of year.

Previous weather records being broken.

And if global climate were changing, we would expect to see this all over the world.

The week of 25-30 June saw torrential rain and flash floods in the UK; violent storms and wild fires in the USA; heavy rains flooding and landslides in Nigeria, and Uganda; the most severe drought on record in Korea (North and South); floods in India and Bangladesh displacing over a million people.

Climate change has begun in earnest.

There are no more prizes for predicting The Flood. There are only prizes for building Arks.


As a footnote to the above, this article points out that the USA is already topping temperatures that the caused the US dustbowl of the 1930s, and asks what life would be like if/when the predicted temperature rises come. Reading it is not for the fainthearted.
